Scouting the Mavericks: The biggest news for UNO going into this game is that, with usual starting goaltender Ryan Massa out with a lower-body injury, freshman Reed Peters gets the nod for the series-opener against the Huskies. Peters has an 0-2-0 record so far this season with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage…UNO doesn’t give up a ton of shots on goal, and that proved to be particularly true last time out. In the Mavericks’ 5-1 win at Miami Jan. 18, UNO tied a season-low in only giving up 13 shots on goal to the RedHawks…UNO scored three power play goals in that game, a season-high…UNO chose Friday’s game against SCSU as the Mavericks’ annual “Sell Out” game, and $1 beverages will be available to fans at the CenturyLink Center starting an hour before the game starts…Form (last five games): L-L-L-SOL-W.

16 Jimmy Murray – 26 Nic Dowd – 13 David Morley
10 Ryan Papa – 11 Kalle Kossila – 22 Jonny Brodzinski
9 Joey Benik – 8 Cory Thorson – 21 Brooks Bertsch
27 Nick Oliver – 37 Joe Rehkamp – 6 Daniel Tedesco

28 Andrew Prochno – 12 Ethan Prow
7 Kevin Gravel – 40 Tim Daly
19 Ben Storm – 15 Niklas Nevalainen

29 Ryan Faragher
35 Charlie Lindren

Scratches: 18 Garrett Milan; 2 Jarrod Rabey

Scouting the Huskies: Sophomore forward Joey Benik returns to the SCSU lineup for the first time since the Huskies’ 6-3 win Jan. 10 at Denver. Benik had been out since then with an upper-body injury…Sophomore forward Jonny Brodzinski was the NCHC’s Offensive Player of the Week last week, netting three goals, an assist and 11 shots on goal over the Huskies’ two games last weekend in the North Star College Cup, a new annual all-Minnesota tournament, in St. Paul…SCSU has been very dangerous on the power play this season, as the Huskies are the nation’s fourth-best team and tops in the NCHC in that category at 23.4 percent (22-of-94)…Junior goaltender Ryan Faragher gets the start Friday for St. Cloud. He comes into Friday’s game with a 12-4-3 record so far this season, a 2.45 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Form: L-SOL-L-L-W.
