Scouting the Mavericks: Last weekend, UNO picked up its first-ever win against Denver in the Colorado capital with a 3-2 overtime win Nov. 1 before clinching a sweep the following night, again winning 3-2 in overtime. Maverick junior forward Josh Archibald scored both game-winning goals against the Pioneers…UNO senior forward Ryan Walters had picked up points in each of UNO’s first nine games of the season before that streak was halted last Saturday in Denver…The 35 shots the Mavericks allowed last Friday were the most UNO has given up in any game so far this season…Archibald and freshman forward Jake Guentzel both picked up NCHC player of the week awards for their performances against the Pioneers. Archibald was named the league’s offensive player of the week, while Guentzel won the rookie of the week honor…Junior goaltender Ryan Massa gets the start Saturday for the Mavericks. In three appearances so far this season, he has posted a 1-2-0 record, 3.71 goals against average and .847 save percentage…Form (last five results): L-L-L-OTW-OTW.

Scouting North Dakota: UND suffered its first home sweep in four years last weekend when it dropped a pair of decisions against then-No. 9 St Cloud State. The Huskies won 3-2 at Ralph Engelstad Arena Friday before winning the rematch by a 3-1 scoreline…UND is stuck in its first three-game losing streak in more than a year…Playing UNO may be just what UND needs though, as UND has won five of the teams’ last eight meetings, including two games in Omaha last season. Last time out against the Mavericks, UND rolled to a 5-2 victory outdoors at TD Ameritrade Park…UND sophomore goaltender Zane Gothberg, who gets the start Saturday, stopped 62 of 65 shots in UND’s two games in Omaha last season…Junior forward Michael Parks leads the NCHC in scoring with five points through UND’s first four league games…Freshman UND defenseman Troy Stecher is on something of a hot streak, having had a hand in all three of his team’s goals last weekend against SCSU…UND has only conceded one power play goal all season, coming 2:25 into its regular season opener at home to Vermont. Since then, UND has killed 28 consecutive penalties…Form: W-L-W-L-L.
