Scouting the UNO Mavericks: At 10-5-1 overall and 6-3-1, UNO is tied with North Dakoa for fifth place in the WCHA but has a game in hand on UND…Each of the red Mavericks’ last four games – and five of their last six – have been decided by a single goal. Scouting the MSU Mavericks: MSU, the WCHA’s surprise package so far this season that currently sits in third place in the league standings, is riding a six-game winning streak coming into this weekend’s series. The purple Mavericks swept, all in a row, Wisconsin at home and then Michigan Tech and Alaska Anchorage at home…The Mankato, Minn. team was listed in the ‘also receiving votes’ category of the USCHO.com Men’s Division I poll for eight of the last nine weeks before cracking the top 20 on Monday…Sophomore forward Matt Leitner is tied for eighth place in the WCHA scoring chart so far this season, posting four goals and 15 assists for 19 points…Freshman goaltender Stephon Williams has the league’s best goals-against average (1.61 in 15 appearances) and the WCHA’s third-best save percentage (.932)…MSU head coach Mike Hastings is in his first year at the helm in Mankato. He spent the past three seasons as an assistant at UNO under Dean Blais and previously spent 14 years as the head coach of the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, and he is a member of the Omaha Hockey Hall of Fame…MSU is 3-3-1 on the road this season…Form: W-W-W-W-W.
