UNO routs Alabama Huntsville 8-0 for sixth consecutive win

Two power play goals 22 seconds apart in Saturday’s second period – both following a five-minute major penalty and game disqualification to Alabama Huntsville’s Sebastian Geoffrion – were the difference as No. 15 Nebraska Omaha cruised to an 8-0 win at CenturyLink Center.

Saturday’s 8-0 win, the Mavericks’ sixth victory in a row for UNO provided the Mavericks with their biggest winning margin since defeating Clarkson by the same score on Oct. 8, 2010 in the second semifinal of that season’s Maverick Stampede tournament…UNO junior forward Ryan Walters has now scored in each of his last five games…Maverick junior forward Brock Montpetit had four assists Saturday, bringing his total on the season so far to 11…Anthony Stolarz picked up his first career shutout, putting together 20 saves to blank the Chargers…UNO had at least ten shots in each period of Saturday’s game…Saturday’s announced attendance was 5,039.
