Scouting the Mavericks: UNO jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Friday’s first game of this series en route to defeating the visiting Wildcats 5-2…Junior forward Brock Montpetit was the night’s first star, scoring the Mavericks’ opening goal and contributing assists to two others…Senior goaltender John Faulkner was rarely tested Friday, only making 11 saves on 13 shots…Defensemen Michael Young and Andrej Sustr continued to show their scoring prowess from the blueline in the series opener, with both D-men scoring a goal. Young and Sustr both have two goals to their names thus far this season…Form (first three games): WLL.

Scouting the Wildcats: Northern Michigan struggled early on Friday night and never really recovered. The Wildcats only managed one shot on goal in the first period, and their two goals later on from Darren Nowick (who is a scratch tonight) and Reed Seckel only proved to be consolation goals…Junior goaltender Jared Coreau starts again in the Wildcat net on Saturday after making 26 saves in the series opener. He was, however, pulled in Friday’s third period after conceding UNO’s fifth goal of the game…Form: WWL.
