Incoming Nebraska Omaha goaltender Anthony Stolarz announced on his Twitter feed Wednesday that he has signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Maverick hockey program ahead of the start of the Mavericks’ 2012-13 season.
“Just signed my National Letter of Intent to attend UNO,” Stolarz wrote on the social networking site.
The 18-year-old netminder from Jackson, N.J. has spent the 2011-12 season backstopping the Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League.
Stolarz, coming in at 6-foot-5 and 200 lbs., posted a 0.920 save percentage in 50 games this season for the South Texas club.
He looks set to be taken in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, finishing in fourth place on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s list of draft-eligible North American goaltenders. He is the only NAHL netminder on the list.
